Weekend Update

It's taken a few days to recover, but we made it! One of the busiest "work weekends" this year. Friday night, AM 560 WIND hosted "Dennis Miller-LIVE" at the Soifetel O'Hare. Close to 500 listeners came to enjoy free food and hear Dennis speak. After the main event, a V-I-P party was held for clients to meet Dennis. I worked with Dennis and his people from Westwood One(the people who broadcast his show from CA.) to get him to all the right places on time during the evening and Danielle worked her planning magic as she does so well.

On Saturday, Dennis sang the national athem at Wrigley Field and enjoyed the Cub's game. After the game, Dennis joined us for "Rockin' For The Troops, " a benefit concert to raise money to send everyday items to our troops abroad. Over 8000 people came to the concert to see Big John Howell (WIND Mornings 5a-9a), Dennis Miller, and Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band. It was a long evening for us, wrapping up at 11pm.

On top of it all...The Derks family was in town to help D's brother Geoff move into one of the empty bedrooms in my place. Geoff is waiting to hear if he will be hired at a church in Huntley, so it works out for him to be close. After more wedding talk, and a nap, we had a Backyard BBQ at the house to wrap up the weekend.

Can't wait to see what next weekend is like!

NASCAR and SHOWERS

For Eric and I this summer has been truly busy. This weekend alone we were at NASCAR in Joliet for AM 560 WIND, at Eric's sister Michele's wedding shower and not to mention planning our own wedding (which we did get our photographer in order).

Eric loves NASCAR so he was definitly able to be in his element. I on the other hand laugh at all the different places God has decided to put me into being with Eric and also being in radio. NASCAR is definitly an experience. The event was well worth it for the station (85,000 people were in the stands) and WIND was pretty pimped out with our RV and HUMMER.
This upcoming weekend we have 6 different station events between the two stations, plus my parents are coming down to talk wedding. It should be fun, however we are trying to keep everything low key.
Michele and Domenic's shower was a great time and I made friends with the flower girls while Eric was with all the guys in the men's area. :)

My parents also graced the front cover of the Post-Crescent for their garden. In Appleton's very prestigious garden walk this past Saturday. With all their dedication to the garden they definitly deserve it. To see the article click here.

We hope you had a relaxing weekend and for those we haven't seen in awhile we hope to see you soon. Love E & D

Cat's out of the Bag

Eric and I were able to get a lot done this weekend. Host the Academy Awards, pick out our wedding bands and let Eric's family on the little secret we have held in for the past three months.

First, we graced Fellowship Church's Academy Awards night as the emcees. The night was able to raise funds for the kids to be able to go to New Orleans and build a house as well as help out the church hosting Fellowship. I was so proud of Eric, even though he is in radio he despises public speaking. However, he was the funny man up there with random jokes.

Second, we checked a couple things off the wedding list this weekend. I picked up the paper for the invitations (which will be really cute), ordered our wedding bands, bought the matrons of honor dresses and met with a couple from our church to talk about married life.

Finally, The actual cat out of the bag was letting Eric's family know we actually bought Tom's Bel-Air 55 Chevy (Not our Friend Chuck.) After some good explaning we were able to get everyone on the same track and have a great rest of the evening. It was a whole lot cooler on the way home (there isn't air-conditioning) since it reached 100 degrees yesterday afternoon.

Hope everyone still has their fingers

The fourth was pretty eventful for us with a huge BBQ over at my psuedo-parents home in Carol Stream. The hit of the party wasn't my best friends baby Peter. It was the gaming sensation Wii...who knew? The other day I walked into the house to find Doug bowling all by himself. Anyways, Eric and I did pretty good for our first try. To top off the evening we all went over to see the Carol Stream fireworks. Last year at that time Eric and I had gone to see some fireworks in Bartlett and I specifically told him that we would only be friends. You see where that got us. :)

We are engaged!!

Eric and I were engaged on Saturday June 2nd, 2007 late in the evening. He offered me a list of options what to do next: Watch another episode of 24, eat some ice cream or be his best friend forever. After pondering the ice cream, I said yes to being his best friend forever. Once we made the rounds of calls, we finally picked a date and will be getting married Saturday October 13th, 2007. We are really excited and we made this blog so everyone could sneak a peak at our budding relationship as husband and wife.
